Have you ever searched on Google for a certain cure or remedy and been given loads of answers that overwhelm you?

That’s exactly what happened when I started researching energy healing modalities to understand what it is exactly about. The first energy healing I encountered was aura cleansing. And when I started googling, I found too many articles just for aura cleansing.

The same goes for researching energy healing therapies. You’ll find thousands of energy healers and modalities in the search results.

Meditation, Reiki, somatic therapy, food supplements, chakra balancing, past-life regression, vision boards, herbal teas, affirmations, sound healing, EFT tapping, hypnotherapy, breathwork, fasting, primal screaming, flower remedies, journaling, yoga retreats, chanting mantras, regression therapy, color therapy, Feng Shui, acupressure, soul retrieval, casting the I-Ching and and many others.

By the time you’re done listing them, you’ll need a healing modality just to cure ‘option paralysis burnout syndrome.’

That moment when you’re faced with endless options and no idea which ones will actually work can feel overwhelming.

Most people approach this by picking whatever feels right in the moment or waiting for the next option to present itself, and then repeating the cycle. It’s the usual method of going with what’s immediately available.

I am not against choosing or trying out. But if you’re genuinely seeking an alternative solution to resolve an issue in your life (not just experimenting out of curiosity or desperation), this method will save you from exhausting your energy, time, and money.

My Approach to Choosing Healing Modalities

Those of you who have known me for years know that taking a helicopter view to spot patterns and connections is something I deeply enjoy. It describes how I do almost everything in my life. (I taught this technique too, and if you are one of those who have gone through it with me, this is called the 6th Lens.)

So what I’m going to share with you is not a list of healing modalities out there (and then compare them and then tell you that they are all wrong and my technique is the best). No, I’m not going to do that.

Everything I know that I’m going to share with you now is how I group them all into easy-to-understand categories so that you can use them to make an informed decision when you want to try out anything for yourself.

I spent significant time, energy, and money figuring this out, but it was worth it to avoid spending a lifetime being clueless about this world.

Stay with me as I guide you through a simple process for choosing the right one.

Step 1: Start with yourself

Let’s start with yourself.

When someone offers you a solution that involves a natural remedy for your problems, always ask yourself first before you ask them questions about their product or service:

What are you seeking?

What are you really looking for when it comes to making yourself a much better person than you are right now?

Some prompts:

  • Do you just want to feel calm and balanced?
  • Do you feel like there’s a deep knot in your energy that needs to be untangled?
  • Are you holding onto something from the past that you can’t seem to shake?
  • Do you want to feel powerful again, like the world isn’t constantly knocking you down?
  • Is there a specific goal or relationship you want to heal or manifest?
  • Is there a specific health issue you want to resolve that doctors and medicines can’t seem to address?

I’ve noticed that most people ultimately want to let go of everything holding them back so they can live a life of health, joy, and abundance. Because of this, most healing modalities promise this common outcome.

The key point is that not all of them address the same root cause.

It’s like seeing a doctor and trusting them to give you the solutions even when they don’t always fully know what’s causing your symptoms.

When I visit a doctor, I want more than just symptom relief. I want to know what’s causing it so that it can be prevented forever.

The same goes for energy healing. If a modality can help me with an issue, it better be helping me remove what may cause it to happen again. That brings us to the second step.

Step 2: Be aware of the root causes of your issue

Imagine you’re trying to grow a beautiful plant, but the soil is full of rocks, weeds, and who knows what else.

You water it, give it sunlight, and even play classical music for it (Mozart, naturally). But nothing seems to help.

Why? Because the roots are stuck.

The same goes for healing.

You can try all the supplements, meditations, and sound baths you want, but if you don’t address the root causes, whether they’re emotional wounds, generational patterns, or energy blocks; you’ll feel like you’re spinning your wheels.

Step 3: Educate yourself

The third step requires you to understand what all healing tools are about. It would take years to study the different healing systems in the world and everything and piece them together into a clear framework, but don’t worry, I’ve already done the hard work and spared you the sleepless nights, overstuffed bookshelves, and one too many cups of tea while deciphering energy charts.

Here’s the priceless crash course:

Lesson 1: The Two Main Types of Healing

Every single healing modality falls into one of two categories:

1. Self-healing techniques

These are all about empowering yourself to heal. They include meditation, journaling, breathwork, grounding, and other practices you can do on your own. They’re accessible, affordable, and great for daily maintenance. But they can only take you so far, especially if you’re dealing with deep-seated blocks.

2. Assisted healing (all the healing modalities and natural remedies out there)

These bring in external support to give you a hand and lift you up from where you are stuck.

Lesson 2: The Four Types of Healing Modalities (Assisted Healing)

All the healing modalities out there can be grouped into four main types:

Clearing, Filling, Balancing, & Physical remedies.

Here’s the breakdown:

1. Clearing

Techniques like intergenerational trauma clearing, entity clearing, and chakra cleansing focus on removing the blocks in your energy. This simply means the healer or practitioner is using a technique to clear the root causes of your issues. The difference between one technique and another is in the kind of root causes they determine are causing it.

2. Filling

These healing modalities focus on uplifting and replenishing your energy field. They don’t tackle root causes directly because it is believed that these higher energy frequencies will know what to do. Modalities like Reiki, sound healing, or crystal therapy channel high-vibration energy into your field to uplift and replenish.

3. Balancing and Aligning

Practices like EFT (tapping), acupuncture, and vibrational therapy focus on restoring harmony in your energy system. Instead of directly dealing with the issue, these techniques stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal, mainly through the nervous system.

4. Physical Remedies

This includes tangible, practical solutions like bodywork, nutritional supplements, counselling, or even herbal remedies.

Step 4: Finding the Right Modality for You

Now that you are aware of what you want and understand the bigger picture of healing modalities and remedies, you can easily pick and match the type with what you are seeking to resolve.

> If you are seeking to release and let go, look for modalities or therapies that specialize in clearing energy blockages related to your specific issue or ailment. This is the safest approach because it doesn’t involve sending universal or external energies into parts of your energy field that don’t require intervention.

> If you want to empower yourself or gain more energy, look for modalities that help you connect to your own hidden or forgotten power. These are usually self-healing techniques.

> If you’re seeking physical remedies, always look for holistic treatments that address the root causes and prevention, not just symptoms.

Take a moment to reflect on what you’re seeking. What is it that you deeply want to heal, release, or transform? It can be anything from your health, your body, your self belief, your habits, your career, finances, relationships or your spiritual consciousness.

Next week, I’ll share my holistic approach to healing, a method that integrates years of study into a system designed to uncover root causes and remove blockages to transformation.
